Salman Khan powered Sultan box office collections by day 26 have reached Rs 296.86 cr mark in India even as the worldwide figure has ballooned up to a Rs 568.76 crore high. In essence, these are fine figures to show anyone. Salman Khan will surely feel very proud 25 years later looking at all this stuff or while he is showing them off to friends and family, especially if he reaches the Rs 300 crore mark. Very few movies in India have reached a collections figure as high as Sultan and Salman Khan has, over the years, been creating super-hits simply by habit, it would seem. What this does is leave barely crumbs for others in Bollywood. (Image Source: Twitter)

However, for all intents and purposes, the going has become tough and the earnings are being padded up rupee by rupee, even as Dishoom, which stars John Abraham, Varun Dhawan and Jacqueline Fernandez eats into most of the traffic at the cinemas. But fortunately for Salman Khan, he is still finding people in large enough numbers to watch the movie and bring him virtually to the doorstep of his Rs 300 crore dream. (Image Source: Twitter)

In India, over the last three days (starting 24th) Sultan collections have been Rs 0.57 cr (Friday), Rs 0.98 cr (Saturday) and Rs 1.51 cr (Sunday). The big deal for Bhai is that he is still being able to get people into cinemas, despite the film being in theatres for almost a month now. Salman Khan has seen off a number of films that have come and gone, but Sultan is showing commendable staying power, even though it is debatable whether the film should even have been allowed to run for this long period by the filmmakers themselves. Whatever the gains were for Sultan have already been reaped, the rest of the records that needed breaking, it will not be able to. With August lining up really top-notch films for screening, Salman Khan may well think that he may need each and every bit of the earnings as these upcoming movies may well have the potential to climb right to the top. Among those movies that are set to hit the screen in the month of August are Hrithik Roshan starrer Mohenjo Daro and Akshay Kumar starrer Rustom. Both are standout movies and will pack a punch at the box office. And though they may eat into each others collections as they are releasing on the same day, but even then, the audiences, which have not seen a mega-release since the release of Sultan and Kabali, may well be hankering for different fare. Is there going to be a big fight at the box office in August? Perhaps. Sultan has already become the No. 1 movie as far as India collections are concerned in 2016 and that is a position the new movies would be looking to snatch away from Salman. While Akshay Kumar has been a regular feature at the B.O. and has been entering the Rs 100 cr club at will, Hrithik Roshan has made a comeback after quite some time and would be hungry for a lot more and that means trouble for others.
