Rajinikanth starrer Kabali collections day 5: With the cinemas now entirely his preserve, Rajinikanth has seen Kabali box office collections maintain their high trajectory in double digits for a total that is racing like a F1 car to over Rs 450 crore, overall. Pit stop likely at Rs 500 cr and much more thereafter. A number of analysts who had earlier 'revealed' huge numbers have beaten a retreat and more realistic figures are now being quoted. This is helpful simply because it keeps things in perspective and allows the benchmarking of the southern superstar against his peers like Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan and others. Rajinikanth starrer Kabali collections day 5: What Kabali box office collections have done for Rajinikanth is that now he can easily be compared to the others. While he was a massive star for most of his life, there never emerged a time when he could be compared on an equal footing with, say Salman Khan and company. The two chances that went abegging were Robot and Lingaa, but nothing concrete emerged from that fiasco for Rajinikanth. The cat was really let among the pigeons when Baahubali was released and that southern movie literally blew every other Bollywood film record to smithereens. And now, here comes Kabali! Rajinikanth starrer Kabali collections day 5: What the current, crowded, trend in theatres across India, has done is make us forget how smashing the success of Kabali was in the first 3 days (opening weekend). To manage an above Rs 50 crore figure on Saturday and Sunday and Rs 48 cr on Monday was not just enviable, but is a figure that is unlikely to be beaten anytime soon. It will require a Kabali type performance to replicate the success in the future, but no one seems to be capable of that. It would also mean surpassing Baahubali's Rs 50 crore day 1 mark too. Impossible, no? (PTI)

Rajinikanth starrer Kabali collections day 5: While the success in India is an eye-opener and people across the country are marvelling at Rajinikanth's major achievement, with politicians getting in on the act demanding various national honours for him, the superstar has scored another major victory to get featured in the top 10 movies list in the US. Rajini was competing there with the likes of Hollywood movies Star Trek Beyond, The Secret Life of Pets, Lights Out, Ghostbusters, Ice Age: Collision Course and other such behemoth films starring top class actors -the cash numbers are based on comScore figures. In this list, Kabali (Tamil & Telugu) was recorded as earning $4.1 million and being ranked at a stupendous No. 8 position in America! No wonder the film managed to beat both Salman Khan and Aamir Khan's records in that region and turn into the top Indian film as far as opening weekend collections are concerned. According to Kabali producer S Thanu as much as Rs 28 crore has come from the US itself. (Reuters)

Rajinikanth starrer Kabali collections day 5: As far as Kabali box office collections on day 4 (Monday) are concerned, the movie has earned Rs 15 crore, as per The Reporter Times. While that is a major achievement, a noticeable wavering in the endless stream of fans is being perceived. For instance, in the same vein, the collections of Salman Khan's Sultan movie were above Rs 30 crore for the first 5 days of release – of course, Salman is a past master at the game as he managed to create a windfall for himself from the extended Eid holiday weekend. That kind of festive booster shot was unfortunately not available to Rajinikanth's Kabali. Salman's Sultan also managed to earn Rs 15.54 crore on day 4 (Monday). Kabali is expected to match that on day 5 (Tuesday). (Express Photo)

Rajinikanth starrer Kabali collections day 5: Kabali has done very well for itself, but the box office collections figures are likely to be challenged by 2 top Bollywood movies that are set to hit north Indian screens in August. While one is Akshay Kumar starrer Rustom, the other is Hrithik Roshan's Mohenjo Daro. Fortunately for Rajinikanth, and for that matter Salman Khan's Sultan too, is the fact that both will release on the same day. That will surely divide fans and lead to a watering down of the collections they eventually chalk up. However, while both Akshay and Hrithik are wonderful actors, they are also great businessmen. They have broken down the business of a movie into a fine art and have been able to make the marketing revenues back up the eventual box office collections immensely, every time. In fact, Hrithik was really on top of this particular business game. So, Rs 120+ crore in opening weekend? Ladies and gentlemen, place your bets! (Bollywood Hungama)
