Superstar Salman Khan powered Sultan box office collections just refuse to die! Like they were on steroids, or something. Every time they sink to a new low, then like some manic wrestler from some magic land, Sultan rises again and boosts the collections ever higher.

When everyone had given up the ghost and more or less taken it for granted that Sultan collection would come to a respectable end as soon as southern superstar Rajinikanth starrer Kabali or even Irrfan Khan starrer Madaari released yet, the very fact of these rivals jumping into the playing field seems to have egged on a new spirit of rivalry. Check out the Sultan collection figures by day 19 (Sunday): Rs 289.05 cr! And how did the number get there? By collecting as much as Rs 3.81 crore on day 18 (Saturday) and a surprising Rs 5.14 crore on day 19 (Sunday)! Will it turn into a Rs 300 crore movie? By all accounts, except it will take it at least the whole of the next week to do so. Would anyone have imagined that happening at the start of the week when everyone had given up Sultan for dead looking at the box office collections trend then?

Yet we are witnessing this juggernaut like momentum carrying the movie ever onwards day after day. Not just that, the worldwide figures too are ballooning. The latest available figures show that the movie is on the cusp of crossing the Rs 550 cr milestone, having reached the Rs 549.55 mark on Sunday. By the time you read this, the movie would have added yet another feather in its cap.
What is keeping the movie alive? It is not on artificial support system, that is for sure. There is a huge latent demand for anything Salman Khan and that drives the demand for any movie that might be there in screens. Considering Salman Khan fan base is wide, there are always those who decide on a whim to check out a Salman Khan movie at the cinema simply because of the kicks they derive by going through the action and the dialogues again. They may have seen it earlier, but don't mind making a second trip, or a third one. Fans, after all, are fans! Rajinikanth mania may have grabbed the southern market, but even though he may have the most voluble and expressive following, Salman Khan is no laggard when it comes to a close-knit fan following. They are very committed and ever eager to jump to the actor's defence. Remember, Salman had to intervene when fans at large started trolling even SRK? Is this a good enough reason? Take your call! -
With Sultan box office collections, Salman Khan has created one of the highest grossing films to ever hit the Indian cinemas. Considering that his fight is with the likes of Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan, the competition is understandably fierce and therefore, the achievement grander. However, increasingly, as can be seen from his collections trends and history, Salman is finding he is having to battle his own best movies to reach the top of the charts, rather than those of rivals, barring one, which continues to hold the No. 1 position in India. Aamir would surely be looking to get back that No. 2 spot if not go one better. But is he enabled enough? (Bollywood Hungama)
