Georgia Dome, one of US's largest domed stadiums, was destroyed in a spectacular manner through a scheduled implosion on Monday. More than 300 pounds of explosives were used to destroy the edifice completely. Rick Cappelletti a senior official associated with the project, said that some of the sections will be mechanically demolished."Well this is it, the time has come to say goodbye. Thanks, Atlanta. I love you all! #DomeFarewell(sic)" Georgia Dome tweeted from its official handle. As per a report, the dome that opened in 1992 was flattened in 15 seconds at 7:30 am. Prior to the blast, the site was expected to go down within 12 seconds.
