Delhi Airport's newly refurbished Terminal 2 or T2 begins operations from Saturday, October 28 2017! With GoAir flights shifting operations to T2, Delhi Airport's revamped Terminal is all set to serve as the swanky new facility for domestic passengers. According to DIAL, the operator of the airport, T2 has facilities similar to any world-class terminal. No international operations will take place from T2. As domestic passengers look forward to more comfortable experience at the new terminal, we look at all the features of T2: -
To begin with, the departure and arrival of GoAir flights will happen from the new terminal. Earlier, GoAir flights used to arrive at T1 C and depart from T1 D. In preparation for first flight departures of GoAir flights from Terminal 2 from October 29th the following 9 flights will start arriving at T2 from the night of October 28th.

The baggage handling system at the T2 has been changed and brought up to modern standards. New forms of lighting have also been used, similar to other terminals of the Delhi airport.
-
T2 has been designed to handle as many as 12 million passengers per annum. According to DIAL, T2 is capable of eventually handling as many as 15 million passengers annually.
-
To give a fresh look and feel to T2, a new interior colour theme has been used for the check-in counters, retail areas, boarding and washroom areas.
-
Delhi Airport's revamped T2 has four entry gates. It is "well connected" to the Airport Metro Line. It is at a walking distance from the T3 metro station of the Airport Metro line, says DIAL.
-
T2 will also have its own dedicated parking for passengers and staff. The re-commissioned T2 will have six contact stands and 6 bus gates.
-
Like the other two terminals, T2 will also offer the facility of radio taxis, and black and yellow taxi services. There will also be an inter-terminal connectivity shuttle service.

Airlines operating from Terminal 1 (T1) have been asked to shift one third of their operations to the refurbished T2. The new terminal is expected to be fully operational by January as airlines shift operations.
The revamped T2 is crucial to DIAL's Master Plan 2016. Under this Master Plan, T2 will help take the load off the growing traffic on T1. In the meantime, Terminal 1 will be expanded and integrated (T1D and T1C will be merged). Once the expansion of T1 is complete, T2 will be demolished to make way for a swanky new T4.

T3 and T2 would cater to the growing traffic in the next three to four years by which time T1 expansion project would be completed. DIAL also plans to build a fourth runway by 2021.
