A new 'Kwid on the block' is here. A small sized hatchback that was revealed in the Indian market by the French automaker Renault a few days back. Renault expected price range is likely to be an eyeball catcher.</br>The Renault Kwid is going to be placed in the small car segment, and that means it will come into direct competition from rivals such as Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, WagonR and Hyundai Eon.</br>As they are currently dominating this segment, it would be interesting to observe how Kwid tackles such ferocious competition. <b>Pricing</b></br> In such a cost sensitive market, pricing always plays a vital role as it is directly proportional to the pocket of the consumers. As a result, Renault has decided to launch Kwid during the festival season within a price range of Rs 3-4 lakh. Talking about the price range of its rivals, Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 has a price tag in the range of Rs 3.2 to 4 lakh, whereas Maruti Suzuki WagonR and Hyundai Eon falls in the price range of Rs 3.5 to 4.5 lakh and Rs 3.1 to 4.3 lakh respectively.

<b>Looks and Appearance</b></br> Appearance and looks are important features that drive the attractiveness of the car but small hatchback segments fall short on this ground as Alto K10 and WagonR are not 'pretty' at all. However, they are certainly much better than their previous versions, but they fall well short in terms of looks when compared with Renault Kwid or Eon. Though Hyundai Eon is a fine looking car, but the similitude of crossover gives Kwid an upper hand as a superior and elegant car over the former. Some of the major design highlights included in this new Kwid are prominent wheel arches, multifaceted body cladding, flickered bonnet, an incredibly positioned nose edged by blacked out headlamps, impressive fog lamps and a stylish rear profile.

<b>Interiors</b></br> Talking about the interiors of Renault Kwid, it gets substantial interior designing although not much has been done internally that makes a grand deal at a price tag of INR 3 to 4 Lac. The central console receives an infotainment system which is the very first addition in this segment along with few cubby holes that makes it a superior proposition when compared with its rivals. However, the interiors of WagonR have turned out to be relatively old-fashioned whereas Alto’s seem to be bit elegant in few areas. Moreover, the interiors of Hyundai Eon are trendy interiors but still disliked by many.

<b>Engine Specs</b></br> As far as the engine specifications are concerned, Renault Kwid will get 800cc petrol engine which would be mated with 5-speed manual transmission. However, there are no official statement regarding the power figures of the car but it is anticipated that it would be less powerful to Alto K10, WagonR and Eon, as the engine is not an 1000cc motor. Moreover, Renault has also promised that Kwid will offer its best mileage figures in this segment. </br> With proper pricing and elegant features, it is anticipated that Renault Kwid might just be able to pump up sales. However, whether it affects the sales of its rivals, only time will tell.
