Cochin International Airport: India's infrastructure is definitely meeting world-standards and the latest terminal T3 at Cochin Airport is one such example. Opened in March 2017, Cochin International Airport's T3 is 1.5 lakh sq.m. structure. It is nearly 2.5 times bigger than the existing two terminals taken together, says CIAL, the operator of the airport. The airport is said to be the "first in the world" to be fully powered by solar energy in August 2015 with the commissioning of a 12 MWp plant near its cargo premises.

Additionally, the airport boasts of a solar carport that can house as many as 1400 cars. This carport has an installation capacity of 2.7MWp and it is the largest of its kind in the country, claims CIAL. The car park also has charging facility for electric cars.

The theme of T3 is inspired from the Thrissur Pooram, the Mother of all festival pageantries. There are 15 real size fibre elephants; caparisoned and adorning traditional costumes.

The airport has 3,500 sq.m. total area for duty-free shops. These are 100% walk-through shops with big perfumes, chocolates and liquor brands.

Cochin International Airport's T3 has 5 entry gates, 84 check-in counters, 80 Immigration/Emigration counters.

Among its top features, the Terminal 3 has a roof top garden, 3 VIP lounges, prayer hall, extensive high-speed Wi-Fi network.

Cochin International Airport T3 is capable of accommodating 5 wide bodied aircraft or a combination of 3 wide bodied aircraft and 4 narrow-bodied aircraft with aerobridge and extra 4 narrow-bodied aircraft at remote parking bays. The effective peak hour parking capacity is 11 aircraft for T3 alone.

Cochin International Airport T3 has four 360-degree CT based in-line scanners with 3D imaging facility that give detailed description of the baggage at Level-1. CIAL claims that this is the most advanced baggage screening facility in the country.

There is also a "sprawling" food court in the visitors' area (ground level) with international brands, 20 retail shops (departure visitors' area), food court with 7 counters, viewers gallery, ATM counters, foreign exchange counters, spa, lounge bar, among other features.

The Cochin International Airport T3 also has pre-paid taxi counters at arrival area, and mobile and forex counters.
