Raised plight of minorities in India, Kashmir with Narendra Modi: Imran Khan </br><br> Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan said he had raised with Prime Minister Narendra Modi the "plight of minorities in India" during his recent visit besides touching upon the Kashmir issue too. The 63-year-old Imran Khan, who is Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief, said the impact of the 'plight' was also felt in Pakistan, stressing that the Indian leadership give a clear message to end discrimination against minorities. Artist Hema Upadhyay, lawyer found murdered in Mumbai suburb </br><br> Well-known painter and installation artist Hema Upadhyay and her lawyer Harish Bhambhani were found murdered in a Mumbai suburb, with their bodies stuffed inside cardboard containers, police said today. The bodies of Hema (43) and Bhambhani (65), their hands and feet tied with ropes, were recovered from near a drain in Kandivali. Speaking on condition of anonymity, a police officer involved in the probe said the bodies were in "semi-naked" condition. Hema Upadhyay was estranged from her husband Chintan Upadhyay, also a painter, and the couple was locked in bitter divorce proceedings since 2010. The bodies were stuffed inside cardboard boxes before being wrapped in plastic sheets that were sewn up, sources said. The bodies have been sent for autopsy and findings are awaited, they said. 'AIIMS denied treatment ot 7-yr old rape victim for 4 hrs' </br><br> The shocking rape case of a seven-year-old girl in the national capital evoked sharp criticism today, with DCW chief Swati Maliwal alleging that the victim was "denied" treatment for four hours at the AIIMS. "Shocked. AIIMS denied treatment to bleeding 7 year old rape victim for 4 hours. Wasn't given even first aid. Will issue notice. Unacceptable," she alleged in a tweet. "Visited seven-year-old girl raped in Delhi. She is in so much pain. Had to undergo two hour surgery. What (a) shame. How many more Nirbhaya will Delhi have?" she said. (PTI) 4. Delhi in the grip of cold wave conditions, temperature plummets to 6.8 deg C </br><br> Cold wave gripped the Delhi on Sunday with maximum temperature plummeting to 15.7 degrees Celsius, seven notches below the season's average and minimum at 6.8 deg C. According to MeT officials, today's low was two notches below the season's average and the relative humidity was reported at 79 per cent. The official predicted that skies will remain mainly clear and the visibility will be at 2,000 metres Monday morning. "Shallow to moderate fog is predicted for tomorrow morning," he said. (PTI) 5. Delhi demolition drive in slums triggers face-off between Delhi and Centre </br><br> A fresh face-off between the Delhi government and the Centre erupted over demolition of a slum cluster by railways to clear "encroachments" and death of a baby at the site here, evoking angry protest from Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who wanted murder case to be filed. The demolition of 1200 slum units at Shakur Basti in West Delhi was carried out yesterday, with the railways saying the action was necessary for expanding the infrastructure. The railways said the demolition was carried out after three notices, the first one with the March 14, 2015 deadline. A six-month-old baby died in one of the slum units, which the railways insisted had "nothing to do with removal of encroachments", claiming that it occurred two hours before the demolition started at 12 pm. Police said baby died due to suffocation after a heap of clothes fell on it when the parents were preparing to clear out of the jhuggi. (PTI) 6. Soldiers should kill the enemy, not lay down lives: Manohar Parrikar </br><br> Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today said soldiers should be asked to kill the enemy instead of being told to lay down their own lives. "It was said that soldier is ready to lay down his life for country. I am against it. Why get killed? Don't get killed. Kill the enemy. See the record of one year and you will see the result (of the instruction)," Parrikar said. He was addressing a reception hosted by the state BJP here on his 60th birthday. (PTI) 7. 'Govt must impose complete ban on cow slaughter, beef export' </br><br> President of World Council of Arya Samaj Swami Aryavesh today demanded a complete ban on cow slaughter in the country and beef export. He also welcomed the decision to impose a ban on cow slaughter in Haryana. If we are going to build this country from the money earned from beef export, then how would we preserve our cultural heritage, he claimed. So, the government must impose a complete ban on cow slaughter and export of beef, Swami Aryavesh said. He also said Arya Samaj will participate in the protest to be held on December 16 at New Delhi's Jantar Mantar. (PTI) 8. Juvenile should not walk free, say December 16 Delhi bus gangrape victim's parents </br><br> With less than two days to go for the release of the juvenile convict in the December 16 gangrape case, the victim's parents today feared that he might be a "threat to society" and demanded that his mental condition be assessed before setting him free. The convict, then aged under 18, is said to have inflicted maximum injury on the 23-year-old paramedical student, who died 13 days later, triggering a massive public outrage. "We demand that he should not be allowed to walk free as he is a threat to the society. There is a need to assess his mental condition before releasing him, so that he does not attack some other girl, like he had killed our daughter," the father of the victim said. The Juvenile Justice Board had on August 31, 2013 sent the juvenile to a remand home for three years. He will walk out of the home on December 15. (PTI) 9. National Herald case: Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi should approach court, says BJP </br><br> Intensifying attack on Congress over National Herald case, BJP accused it of using "pressure tactics" by "obstructing" the Parliament to prevent further investigation in the matter. "Congress leaders are trying to obstruct Parliament for their own interest. They are creating hurdles in the country's progress and jeopardising people's interests," BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh said here. Asking Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to go to the court instead of holding Parliament hostage, Singh said "Congress leaders are simply using pressure tactics in a bid to prevent further investigation in the matter as they fear more damage if detailed probe is conducted." Dilip Kumar honoured with Padma Vibhushan </br><br> Legendary actor Dilip Kumar was on Sunday honoured with Padma Vibhushan, the country's second highest civilian award, by Home Minister Rajnath Singh. The 93-year-old Dilip Kumar was bestowed with the honour at his residence here just two days after his birthday. His close friend Udaya Tara Nayar and compiler of the actor's autobiography, "The Substance and the Shadow", told IANS that the actor was felicitated on Sunday afternoon. Dilip Kumar was presented the Padma Vibhushan medallion, a certificate and a shawl by Singh. Present on the occasion were his actress-wife Saira Bano, Maharashtra Governor C.V. Rao and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Born in Peshawar now in Pakistan, Dilip Kumar, whose real name is Yusuf Khan, entered the Indian film industry in the black-and-white era and became a name to reckon with in the 1950s and 1960s.
