Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor starrer Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (PRDP) box office collections figure in the opening week have been surprising. Even though it had a day extra in theatres (it released the day after Diwali on Thursday), it could not manage to ink any new records. That PRDP has been extremely successful is beyond doubt, but expectations were that this success will ink new records, but that has not happened, disappointing his fans. In all, PRDP box office collections are at a massive Rs 231.56 cr by day 8 in the domestic and foreign markets together. The Sooraj Barjatiya directed PRDP opened with a bang and continued its run in the theatres without any hindrance in week 1 and is looking good for another. However, having said that, While PRDP has been making waves as the highest opening day grosser of 2015 at Rs 40.35 cr, it has not been able to beat the other top release of Salman Khan, namely Bajrangi Bhaijaan in terms of opening week’s collections. In a head to head bout, PRDP has come off second best, literally. (Bollywood Hungama)

Surprisingly, despite positive word of mouth, not forgetting the extended festive weekend that the film enjoyed, PRDP comes in second on the opening week collections list having grossed Rs 172.82 crore, missing the top slot to Salman’s earlier release Bajrangi Bhaijaan that collected Rs. 184.62 crore.
