Indian equity benchmarks closed Tuesday’s session in the red. The Nifty 50 closed the day 33 points or 0.13% lower at 25,170, and the Sensex fell 58 points or 0.07% to end at 82,102. 

However, the Nifty Bank settled 225 points or 0.41% higher at 55,509. The small and midcap stocks also closed lower. The BSE Midcap declined 133 points, or 0.29%, at 46,367.85. On the other hand, the BSE Smallcap finished 190 points or 0.35% higher at 54,044.

Indices in intraday trade

The indices closed Wednesday’s session on a positive note. During the session, out of 3,136 trading stocks, 1,329 advanced, while 1,714 declined, and 93 remained unchanged. Today, 107 stocks hit a fresh 52-week high. Meanwhile, 44 stocks touched a new 52-week low. 

Top gainers 

IndusInd Bank was the top gainer in the Nifty 50 in Tuesday’s session, closing 2.82% higher. It was followed by Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance, JSW Steel, and Maruti Suzuki. 

Top losers

Tech Mahindra’s shares were the biggest losers in today’s trade, declining 2.16%. It was followed by Trent, SBI Life Insurance, HUL, Nestle India, and many others.
