Indian equity benchmarks closed Monday’s trade on a higher note, as investors cheered Deepawali. The Nifty 50 closed the day 133 points or 0.52% higher at 25,843, and the Sensex jumped 411 points or 0.49% to end at 84,363.

In line with the benchmarks, the Nifty Bank settled 320 points or 0.55% higher at 58,033. The midcap stocks also surged in today’s trade. The BSE Midcap surged 320 points, or 0.69%, at 46,680.25. The BSE Smallcap finished 315 points or 0.59% higher at 53,356.

Indices in intraday trade

The indices closed Monday’s session on a positive note. During the session, out of 3,234 trading stocks, 1,884 advanced, while 1,244 declined, and 106 remained unchanged. Today, 95 stocks hit a fresh 52-week high. Meanwhile, 98 stocks touched a new 52-week low. 

Top gainers 

Cipla was the top gainer in the Nifty 50 in Monday’s session, closing 4.15% higher. It was followed by Reliance Industries, Bajaj Finserv, Shriram Finance, and Dr Reddy’s Lab. 

Top losers

ICICI Bank’s shares were the biggest losers in today’s trade, declining 3%. It was followed by Mahindra & Mahindra, JSW Steel, Zomato (Eternal), and Adani Ports were losers in today’s trade.
