A string of text characters have reportedly been discovered by Apple users, which when received on an iPhone in Messages, can lock people out of the app or crash the phone as well.

According to The Verge, users who receive the text, with Messages open, won’t be able to go back to other messages without crashing the app, while users who received the string on their lock screen won’t be able to open the Messages app entirely.

People have started using the string of characters to block others off from seeing messages from any recipients.

The effect, however, is undone when the user follows up with another message such as, “Hi.”
