Xiaomi 14 Ultra is set to officially arrive in global markets on February 25, 2024. The phone will break cover in China a few days earlier though, on February 22 to be precise. And as expected, Xiaomi has started hyping what’s going to be its biggest selling point — the camera setup. The TL;DR version is that the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is destined to be a photography powerhouse.
This ultra-level phone from Xiaomi will come with four cameras on the back tucked inside a ginormous assembly, fit to be declared an island on its own. We can’t say if it’s bigger or same as the Xiaomi 13 Ultra but it isn’t any smaller, that is for sure.
Anyhow, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is confirmed to get a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-900 main sensor behind a variable aperture (f/1.63 to f/4.0) Leica Summilux lens. (This is a step-up over the Xiaomi 13 Ultra’s Sony IMX989.) Joining it will be a couple of telephotos— 50-megapixel Sony IMX858 behind a 75mm equivalent f/1.8 for 3.2x zoom, and another 50-megapixel Sony IMX858 behind a 120mm equivalent f/2.5 periscope for 5x zoom.
The ultra wide detail is a mystery at this point in time but online reports suggest that Xiaomi may simply recycle the 50MP sensor (with macro shooting capability) from the Xiaomi 13 Ultra.
Xiaomi 14 Ultra launch: Reported hardware
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra will reportedly have a 6.73-inch 2K or 1440p resolution AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness. Under the hood, it will most probably have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor reportedly paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS4.0 storage. Powering the phone will be a 5,300mAh battery with 90W fast wired and 50W wireless charging, according to reports.
