Xiaomi is all set to launch its new Redmi smartphones in India. The Chinese company will soon launch its new set of smartphones on February 14. The phone is expected to be named Redmi 5 or Redmi 5 Plus. The two phones are already available in China. Redmi 5 sport an 18:9 ultra-widescreen aspect ratio. The budget smartphones come with a metal unibody and have Android Nougat installed.
Talking about specifications, the Redmi 5 features a 5.7-inch HD plus screen with reduced bezel size. Also, it houses with a fingerprint scanner at the back. The smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 450 SoC, an octa-core processor built on the 14nm FinFET technology. Coming to the camera, the Redmi 5 sports a 120megapixel sensor on the rear with a 1.25 micron pixel and a 5 MP front-facing camera for selfies. It is powered by a 3,300 mAh battery, which can last for 12 days on standby.
Meanwhile, focussing on the Redmi 5 Plus, the budget smartphone features a 5.99-inch Full HD plus display in 18:9 aspect ratio. Redmi 5 Plus is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC, coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. The smartphone comes with a 5 MP front-facing camera assisted with LED flash and a 12 MP sensor with LED flash on the rear. The device is housed with a 4,0000 mAh battery, which can last for 17 days on standby.
In terms of pricing, the Redmi 5 costs CNY 799 in China for the base variant that translates to approximately Rs 7,500 in Indian currency. The Redmi 5 Plus, on the other hand, costs CNY 999 for the base variant that translates to Rs 9,600 in Indian currency.
The smartphones are Flipkart exclusives and so will be launched on the e-commerce site.
