According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is said to be enhancing its “Status” feature, with the development of a new feature known as “Add Status.” It will be available to the app via a future update.
WhatsApp is working on a new feature called “status” that will help users manage their profile information better. Sometimes, people forget to update or delete their “about” section, leading to outdated or irrelevant details on their profiles. With this upcoming feature, WhatsApp wants to empower users by letting them set an expiration date for their text status information.
For instance, supposedly if I’m on a vacation for at least the next three days and I don’t want people to call me. I can set a “status” writing — “No calls, text if urgent.” with an auto-expiration of 3 days, so when I am back to work— people can check and respond accordingly. This means that even if users forget to update or delete it, the information will automatically disappear when the chosen time is up.

Additionally, the WABetaInfo report mentioned that the Meta-owned instant messaging app may be introducing these time durations or select timeframe expires: 24 hours, 3 days, 1 week and 2 weeks. The report also posted a screenshot of the same. It also adds that once users choose the duration for their new text status, it will vanish from their profile once the selected time period ends. Importantly, users will have the flexibility to change the duration whenever they wish.
