Samsung has officially launched the budget-friendly Galaxy Tab A9 and Galaxy Tab A9 Plus in India. The entry-level Tab A9 packs MediaTek’s Helio G99 chip and is available in options with Wi-Fi and cellular (LTE). It starts at Rs 12,999. The Tab A9 Plus, meanwhile, bumps up the screen size to 11-inch (versus 8.7-inch for the Tab A9) and gets a speedier Qualcomm snapdragon 695 chip which also allows Samsung to offer an option with 5G connectivity for those who might need it. The Galaxy Tab A9 and Galaxy Tab A9 Plus will take on the recently launched OnePlus Pad Go and the Xiaomi Pad 6, one of the budget segment’s most sought-after tablets as also the more affordable Redmi Pad.

The Tab A9 comes in Wi-Fi only and LTE trims both with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage set by default. The former is available for Rs 12,999 while the latter will set buyers back by Rs 15,999.
You’ll get more choice if you opt for the Tab A9 Plus with Samsung’s website putting up as many as four on sale— Wi-Fi only with 4GB/64GB for Rs 18,999, Wi-Fi only with 8GB/128GB for Rs 20,999, 5G with 4GB/64GB for Rs 22,999 and LTE with 8G/128GB for Rs 24,999.
In a press release sent out to the media, Samsung mentions that customers can avail up to Rs 3,000 cashback on the purchase of the Tab A9 series with select bank cards.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A9, Galaxy Tab A9 Plus spec-check
The Tab A9 has an 8.7-inch IPS LCD display with an 800x1340p resolution. Refresh rate is capped at 60Hz. The tablet is powered by a 5,100mAh battery and comes with a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Tab A9 Plus has a larger 11-inch display (also IPD LCD) and faster 90Hz refresh rate. It gets a bigger 7,040mAh battery and a higher-res 5-megapixel camera on the front.
Both tablets run One UI 5.1.1 based on Android 13, feature 8-megapixel rear camera, and support 15W charging though Samsung won’t give you any charger in the box. The Tab A9 and A9 Plus are available in three colours: graphite, sliver and navy.
