Realme is coming to eat Redmi’s lunch. The Oppo spin-off whose very conception seemed like it was meant to counter Redmi’s meteoric rise in markets like India, now wants to take on competition more directly with its upcoming Note series. Now the “note” branding isn’t a Redmi exclusive, there are other brands who do it, too, like Infinix (and those who don’t do it anymore, like Samsung) but, c’mon, can it get any more obvious?
Realme founder and CEO, Sky Li, has teased the imminent launch of the Realme Note series while Francis Wong, CEO of Realme Europe has separately shared the reasoning why it would exist. Apparently, by launching a new product line “besides GT, Number and C series,” it is prepping to “face the competition more straightly.”
Leaks doing the rounds of the internet hint of a Realme Note 1, the first purported device of the new series though it could be just placeholder text. The alleged Realme Note 1 is said to come with a 6.67-inch 120Hz OLED display with FHD resolution. It is further tipped to come powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chip and a 5,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging.
For photography, it is said to come with a triple rear camera setup with a 108-megapixel wide, 8-megapixel ultrawide, and another unspecified 2MP sensor while on the front, it is said to come with a 16MP camera for selfies. Rounding off the package are dual speakers and an in-display fingerprint reader for biometrics.
Buzz has it that the Realme Note 1 may make its global debut as early as on January 24.
Realme 12 Pro series 5G India launch date announced
And the Realme 12 Pro series 5G is coming five days later. Realme has announced the India launch date for the Realme 12 Pro and Realme 12 Pro Plus. Both devices will launch on January 29 with the top-of-the-line Realme 12 Pro Plus confirmed to get a 3x periscope telephoto camera.
The series will also mark the return of Realme’s “master” edition tie-ups. Realme has confirmed that it is partnering with international luxury watch designer Ollivier Savéo to launch a luxury-watch inspired Realme 12 Pro series 5G series variant. Whether both the Realme 12 Pro Plus and Realme 12 Pro will get it, remains to be seen. Watch this space for more updates.
