Popular digital payments service Paytm appears to be experiencing some issues as per outage detection websites Downdetector and Is the service down. Chit-chatter on microblogging website X (formerly Twitter) also suggests, at least some users are facing problems with Paytm. However, the outage isn’t widespread to ring any major alarm bells, at the time of writing anyway. Paytm is yet to confirm or deny the issues.
Issues seem to have spiked up—but not alarmingly so, might we add—at about 9:00 PM with Downdetector stats confirming 69 percent of users reporting problems with funds transfer while the remaining 31 percent said, they were experiencing problem with the app itself. Is the service down was a bit more detailed with the information. Stats on it indicate issues with Paytm transactions (61 percent), mobile app (24 percent) and login (8 percent), beginning at 9:10 PM.
As per the tracker website, majority of issues were reported from Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Chhindwāra, Bengaluru, Hamīrpur, Lucknow, Puducherry, Jodhpur, Cochin, Noida, Muzaffarpur, Patna, Ahmedabad and Baharampur. FE Tech Bytes can confirm Noida residents did face several issues with Paytm.
Several people took to X to confirm and share their issues with Paytm. One user got straight to the point and wrote, “Paytm servers are down,” while another commented on the same saying, “So I’m not the only one facing it,” adding credence to the matter.
Another user wrote, “This is now there [three] times in a row, somehow the UPI pin is getting reset and asking to set UPI pin again and again. I have set UPI successfully three times but again it says UPI pin not set.”
Yet another user wrote, “Too much take time to pay anywhere. #paytmlate #latepaytm. Don’t know why I am not leaving this #paytm. I am using Paytm more than 10 years but can’t leave it. @Paytm @GoI_MeitY @AshwiniVaishnaw this happens everyday. Please do reply if you take this seriously. #upi #lateupi.”
