Motorola has unveiled its latest mid-range contender, the Edge 60 Fusion, in India, marking another step in its push to reclaim relevance in the competitive smartphone market. At the heart of this device lies the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 processor- a chipset that promises efficiency, performance, and future-ready features. But what makes this SoC special, and which other smartphones are set to challenge the Edge 60 Fusion with the same silicon? Let’s dig in.

The Dimensity 7400: Power meets efficiency

Built on a 4nm manufacturing process, the Dimensity 7400 is designed to deliver powerful performance without sucking up the battery. Its octa-core CPU combines two Cortex-A78 performance cores (2.6GHz) with six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores ensuring smooth multitasking and sustained performance under load.

One of its biggest strengths is the Imagiq 765 image signal processor (ISP), which supports 200MP main cameras, advanced AI-based photography enhancements, and superior low-light capabilities. This makes the Dimensity 7400 a preferable choice for brands targeting photography enthusiasts in the mid-range segment.

Additionally, the chipset supports:

  • 5G connectivity with dual-SIM standby
  • LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage for faster app launches
  • 120Hz+ display refresh rates for fluid visuals
  • Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6 for seamless connectivity

Compared to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, the Dimensity 7400 holds its own raw performance while offering better power efficiency which is a key selling point for budget-conscious buyers who want long-lasting battery life.

Motorola Edge 60 Fusion: What’s on offer?

The Edge 60 Fusion packs a well-rounded spec sheet including a 6.7-inch FHD+ pOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, a 50MP primary camera with OIS, paired with a 13MP ultrawide lens and a 5,000mAh battery with 68W fast charging. The smartphone runs near-stock Android 14 with Moto’s signature gesture controls.

Priced at Rs 20,999, it competes directly with the Nothing Phone (2a), Samsung Galaxy A36, and iQOO Neo 10R. However, its biggest rivals may soon be other phones running the same Dimensity 7400 chipset.

Phones with the same processor: The coming competition

While the Edge 60 Fusion is among the first to feature the Dimensity 7400 in India, several other brands are expected to adopt this chipset soon. Here’s a look at potential (and confirmed) competitors:

  1. Realme Narzo 80 Pro
  1. CMF Phone 2
  1. Vivo V60e

Will the Edge 60 Fusion Stand Out?

Motorola’s strength lies in its clean software experience and reliable hardware, but it faces stiff competition from brands like Xiaomi and Realme, which often offer more aggressive pricing and flashier features. The Dimensity 7400 gives the Edge 60 Fusion a fighting chance, but its success will depend on how well Motorola markets its camera capabilities, display quality, and battery efficiency.
