The iPhone 17 lineup is set to make its official entry soon, with Apple expected to hold the launch event in mid-September. Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 unveiling is expected to feature several hardware announcements, ranging from the latest iPhone 17 lineup to refreshed Apple Watch editions and next-generation AirPods. The smartphone series itself will reportedly arrive in four options: the standard iPhone 17, the slimmer iPhone 17 Air, the iPhone 17 Pro, and the top-tier iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Apple is reportedly discontinuing the “Plus” model in the upcoming iPhone 17 lineup and introducing a new variant called the iPhone 17 Air. Early leaks suggest that the iPhone 17 Air could surpass Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge to claim the title of the slimmest smartphone available, with a thickness of just 5.5mm.
iPhone 17 launch date:
Apple typically schedules its iPhone launches for September, and the iPhone 17 family is expected to arrive around the same timeframe in 2025. To recall, the iPhone 16 range was introduced on September 9, 2024, while the iPhone 15 series was revealed on September 12, 2023.
iPhone 17 processor:
The upcoming iPhone 17 is rumored to run on Apple’s latest A19 processor, built using TSMC’s 3nm technology, delivering faster speeds and better power management than the A18 chip found in the iPhone 16. It is also expected to retain 8GB of memory, the baseline requirement for handling Apple Intelligence features.
iPhone 17 camera:
The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are expected to feature a three-camera configuration on the back, comprising a 48MP main lens, a 48MP periscope telephoto lens (an upgrade over the earlier 12MP version), and a 48MP ultra-wide lens. These premium models are likely to be powered by the A19 Pro processor and could be paired with 12GB of RAM. The standard iPhone 17, on the other hand, is anticipated to continue with a dual-lens setup, including a 48MP primary camera and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor, similar to its predecessor. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Air may arrive with a single 48MP rear camera.
iPhone 17 design and display:
Reports suggest that the iPhone 17 will come with a larger 6.3-inch screen, up from the 6.1-inch display used on the previous model. This aligns its size with the iPhone 16 Pro, and Apple is expected to keep the same 6.3-inch panel for the iPhone 17 Pro.
With the “Plus” version being phased out, the standard iPhone 17 will serve as the base model in the lineup. In terms of display sizes, both the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro are projected to feature 6.3-inch screens, the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air is tipped to sport a 6.6-inch display, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max is likely to lead with a 6.9-inch panel.
iPhone 17 price:
The iPhone 17 lineup is likely to enter the Indian market at an initial price point of around Rs 79,900. That said, industry leaks indicate that the regular and Pro editions may cost more than their iPhone 16 counterparts.
