In contrast to the regular iPhone 17, as well as the Pro and Pro Max versions, the iPhone 17 Air is rumored to boast an exceptionally thin design—potentially as slim as 5.5 mm. If accurate, this would mark it as the slimmest iPhone Apple has ever produced, positioning it as a direct rival to Samsung’s forthcoming Galaxy S25 Edge in terms of elegance and ease of handling.
iPhone 17 Air design and display:
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to be approximately 2mm thinner than the iPhone 16 Pro. Meanwhile, other market experts such as Ming-Chi Kuo and Jeff Pu suggest its thickness could fall within the 5mm to 6.25mm range. Apple is reportedly redesigning the internal architecture, with prototype models showing subtle adjustments—like the USB-C port being moved slightly upward from its centered position, now sitting closer to the back edge. Additionally, the speaker grille has been streamlined, featuring fewer holes on either side of the port. These changes are believed to optimize internal space without compromising the device’s durability.
The iPhone 17 Air is rumored to sport a 6.6-inch OLED display, placing it between the standard iPhone 17 and the larger iPhone 17 Pro Max in terms of screen real estate. The panel is likely to be similar to the high-brightness display used in the current iPhone 16 Pro models, with enhancements aimed at improving power efficiency and screen lifespan.

The iPhone 17 Air is anticipated to debut at a price of Rs 89,900 in India, $899 in the U.S., and AED 3,799 in the UAE. Apple is expected to introduce the full iPhone 17 lineup during its September 2025 keynote event, with the iPhone 17 Air standing out as the most notable design breakthrough in the series. The device is likely to hit major markets shortly after its official announcement.
