Sony is gearing up to celebrate 30 years of PlayStation in a big way, and fans are buzzing over what appears to be the first official glimpse of the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 Pro. A recent blog post commemorating the PlayStation anniversary included an intriguing image that eagle-eyed fans believe confirms the design leak of the PS5 Pro, which surfaced just a week ago.
The design in question, spotted in a montage image, shows a PS5 with three black stripes running down its middle—eerily similar to the leaked sketches of the PS5 Pro seen on Dealabs last week. According to the leak, retail packaging for the PS5 Pro showcased these distinct stripes, marking a noticeable departure from the single stripe found on the current PS5 model. In the montage, both the existing PS5 and the suspected Pro model are displayed, fuelling excitement for an impending reveal.
While an official announcement wasn’t expected this soon, Sony appears to have teased the PS5 Pro’s design in a subtle, but effective way. Even the official PlayStation Instagram account added to the hype, sharing the image with the caption “Your first look 👀.”
Reports suggest that developers have been preparing for the PS5 Pro for months, with all games releasing after September 16 required to support the new console. This hints at an imminent official reveal.
Meanwhile, the PlayStation 5 Slim has finally made its way to India, nearly six months after its US launch. The Slim model, as the name suggests, offers a more compact version of the original PS5, boasting a 30 percent smaller and 24 percent lighter build. Despite its sleeker design, it packs the same powerful internals as its predecessor. However, not all changes have been welcomed, with the new horizontal stand being criticised and the requirement for an active internet connection to pair the disc drive raising concerns.
With the PS5 Slim set to be the only available option soon, anticipation for the more powerful PS5 Pro is reaching fever pitch. Gamers won’t have to wait long now, so it seems.
