With the growing appetite for affordable smartphones in India, Tecno is doubling down on its efforts to capture the budget segment. Recognizing the country’s price-sensitive market, the brand is gearing up to introduce a wider range of cost-effective devices that deliver strong performance and modern features without breaking the bank. The smartphone brand is strategically targeting the Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 price bracket, aiming to strike a balance between affordability and innovation. It is also placing a strong emphasis on localized AI features tailored to Indian users, Arijeet Talapatra, CEO Tecno, India told Financial Express.

“While our product portfolio ranges from Rs 7,000 to Rs 80,000, our primary focus will remain on the Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 segment and are looking at 200 percent growth in this segment. We are committed to investing significantly in practical, localized AI solutions that add real value to everyday users. With over 4,000 employees already working in our manufacturing facilities, we also aim to expand our R&D capabilities to drive deeper innovation and support long-term growth,” Arijeet noted.

As part of their portfolio expansion, Tecno plans to roll out a range of new accessories, including the smart glasses and laptops unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2025. These innovative products are anticipated to hit the market either late in 2025 or early in 2026, marking Tecno’s growing footprint beyond smartphones.

“We plan to expand our portfolio by launching accessories such as smart glasses and laptops with releases expected in late 2025 or early 2026. Additionally, we are also gearing up to launch a sleek, slim smartphone model within this year, further strengthening its presence in the competitive mobile segment,” Arijeet added.

At MWC 2025, Tecno pulled back the curtain on its latest wearable tech lineup, unveiling the AI Glasses Pro and AI Glasses models. These smart eyewear devices come equipped with a 50-megapixel camera using the OV50D sensor, a wide 100° field of view lens, and an AI-powered ISP chip.

The AI Glasses Pro steps things up with a MicroLED display offering a 30° field of view and brightness levels reaching 1,500 nits. This augmented reality (AR) screen supports dynamic overlays for live translations, turn-by-turn navigation, notifications, and even teleprompter-style text.

In the laptop arena, Tecno debuted its first OLED notebook—the Megabook S14. Claimed to be the lightest 14-inch OLED laptop in its category, it features a 2.8K resolution display with a 120Hz refresh rate and tips the scales at around 899 grams.

Expanding the Megabook family, Tecno also introduced the ultralight Megabook T14 Air, weighing in at just 999 grams and equipped with fast LPDDR5 memory. Meanwhile, the all-metal Megabook K15S is fitted with a large 70Wh battery and comes bundled with a 65W PD GaN fast charger.

Tecno Pova Curve 5G launched in India:

On Thursday, Tecno launched its new smartphone Pova Curve 5G at Rs 15,999. The smartphone stands out as the most affordable phone in its segment to feature a 6.78-inch FHD+ 3D curved AMOLED display with a smooth 144Hz refresh rate. The display also supports up to 1300 nits of peak brightness and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Under the hood, the device runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity 7300 Ultimate chip, backed by up to 8GB of physical RAM and an additional 8GB of virtual memory. It features a 64MP primary camera using Sony’s IMX682 sensor, along with a 2MP depth sensor for portraits. A 13MP front camera handles selfies, and both camera systems support 4K video capture—an impressive feature in this price bracket.

Design-wise, the phone draws inspiration from futuristic spacecraft and has a slim 7.45mm profile. Despite its sleek form, it packs a sizable 5500mAh battery. Thanks to 45W fast charging—charger included—it can fully recharge in just 45 minutes. The device also supports bypass charging to reduce heat during gaming or intensive use.
