Facebook is testing its own way ‘in-app’ search engine to help users find links within the mobile app. This ensures that users don’t have to Google Search for a link before they can post it to their status update. According to the TechCrunch, Facebook has confirmed that it is piloting a new way to add links on status updates on the app.

The ‘in-app’ search engine has already been spotted on iOS for some users in the US, adds the report.  Facebook also told TechCrunch that they have over “one trillion posts” which will let people search for links and it means that the data is not being powered by Google.

The ‘add a link’ option shows users a matching link once they put in a query in the search box. Users can then simply choose the desired link and publish it with pictures or status updates.

It remains to be seen how soon the ‘in-app’ search option will be rolled out to Facebook users.
