Meta is all set for a makeover with a bunch of new features. According to an official blog, Meta will redesign and add new features for Facebook. Meta said that these features will help users to see more customized feed.
The company further explained that it wants to create a platform where you can find the content you love. The features will also help you to connect with people you care for and really want to connect. So, here’s a glimpse of what awaits you.
Meta revamps itself
The social media platform will be going for a new look, specially catered to your needs. In a blog post it explained that the updates will allow you to ‘do more’ on Facebook. It will make it easy to discover content, connect with friends, find shops and much more. Meta aims to open a new door of ‘social discovery’ on Facebook. Meta will be introducing three new features. These are ‘local’ features, a ‘weekly and weekend digest’ for events. Additionally it will also bring a new section in ‘Feed.’
The ‘local’ feature will bring together the ‘best local content’ under a single tab. The ‘local’ tab will help you to find the best marketplace and events, among others, in any local area. However, as of now, ‘local’ is available just in Charlotte, New York City, Austin, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Chicago, Houston, Dallas,San Francisco and Phoenix.
Next comes the ‘weekly and weekend digest’ feature. This is a single platform for upcoming events recommendations. You will get suggestions on daily events on Facebook. Note that these are based on your interest and the area you stay. You will get notifications about these events on the app. Lastly, you have a new section in Feed showing the top content in Facebook. For example you will get the contents such as ‘top 5 places to visit’.
More updates for you
In addition to the above mentioned updates, Facebook is getting some other makeover. Meta plans to bring a ‘explore’ tab. This tab will show you contents as per your interests, not just entertainment but in-depth topics also. Additionally it can suggest communities that bring some learnings. Meta explained that this feature uses a different range of signals to identify the algorithm based on your choice. This varies from user to user and is unique for every user. The main aim is to bring user-based content in Facebook feed.
Furthermore, Facebook will also get a expande ‘video’ tab. Now you can get a full screen, reel like space to see video contents. You can watch both short -form and long-form videos in this tab.
