Call of Duty’s long-standing legacy of annual releases is all set to continue with the upcoming Black Ops 7. Developed by Treyarch, the title serves as a follow-up to Black Ops 2’s narrative, featuring some of the more futuristic elements of the franchise. Its integration with Warzone is sure to bring fresh content to the BR, including the possibility of a brand-new map at some point in the future. With the title’s gameplay reveal and deep dive behind us, we’ve put together a guide on everything to know about Black Ops 7, including its release date, pricing, and more.
Black Ops 7 Gameplay
Black Ops 7 serves as a narrative sequel to Black Ops 2. The game is set in 2035, nearly a decade on from BO2’s events, and stars David Mason in the lead role. The world is at the brink of chaos once again, and somehow, Raul Menendez is back. The shadowy antagonist is confirmed to appear in the game, but it’s unclear whether he has been resurrected or is living on as a hallucination in David’s mind.
The narrative revolves around a weapon manufacturer named The Guild, which is an offshoot of the Avalon-based weapons trafficking group from Black Ops 6. Now led by CEO Emma Kagan, The Guild positions itself as the good guy of futuristic surveillance and advanced arms manufacturing. As stated in their very own Forbes feature, “We don’t collect what we don’t need. Our systems are designed to safeguard, not surveil. Our mission is to protect when conventional safeguards fall short.”
Their vast arsenal of robotic defence machinery appears to be facilitating peacekeeping efforts around the world. But you get the sense that this is a synthetic veneer over a much more insidious organisation that David Mason and his JSOC team will be eager to unravel. The gameplay reveal trailer provided a glimpse at another crucial element of the story: the fear-inducing red toxic. When inhaled, this substance appears to trigger head-spinning hallucinations that players will have to make sense of throughout the game’s campaign.
Black Ops 7 Availability
There is no stipulated method to sign up or join the open beta phase, as it will be available for everyone. Those who pre-order any version of Black Ops 7 will grant themselves early access to the open beta. They can simply pre-download the game and jump into it as soon as the early access comes live on October 2.
However, console owners who have pre-ordered a physical version will get a Beta Code before the start of the early access period of the open beta. That code should be redeemed through the platform’s storefront in order to get into the beta.
Players who are opting for the normal open beta on October 5, should pre-download the game and dive into it as soon as it goes live for everyone. However, along with the early access, they will be missing out of the Reznov Challenge Pak as well, which will be immediately accessible in Call of Duty Black Ops 6 and Warzone.
