Apple’s AirTag has been in the news for quite some time. To be exact, for four years the tech giant has been gearing up to launch a new version of the Apple Airtag. Now, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman , it will be bringing an upgraded version by next year.
Gurman said that the next-generation is codenamed B589 and is currency under the testing. However, Apple might launch them in 2025. Here’s a detailed look at what more we can expect!
AirTag to get an update soon
On November 17, in his Power On newsletter, Gurman hinted at the news of an ‘updated AirTag’ scheduled for 2025. The latest version of AirTag could have a similar structure like the 1st AirTag which made a debut in 2021. However, Apple plans to bring other major changes in the upcoming updated version. It could strengthen its privacy structure. In addition to this a more powerful chip could also be added. Early reports suggest that AirTag has been misused several times. So, in order to avoid this, the new version will not be easy to tamper with.
Also now it will not be easy to remove its speaker. Earlier, the speaker was easy to remove. This made it easy for people to misuse them. Also, without a speaker, AirTag it was hard to track them. The basic purpose of AirTag is to identify lost objects. So, without the ability to get tracked the device is of no use.
Furthermore, the misuse of AirTag has made Apple land up in several lawsuits. So, to close all these issues, Apple aims to bring a strong and much better version of the existing tracking device.
Other updates
Other than the next-gen tracking device, Apple also plans to launch a few product lineups. According to The Verge, Apple could bring a smart home display by 2025. It is suggested that Apple will bring a smart home display similar to the Amazon Echo Hub. Also the device will be an ‘AI wall-mounted tablet.’
Looking at the structure, the device will be an iPad-like device having a six-inch display. The model can look like a mixture of iPhone’s recent ‘StandBy’ mode and the operating system (OS) of Apple Watch. Additionally, it could also have Apple Intelligence and Siri voice control support. Furthermore, the product could have an in-built camera with speakers and rechargeable battery. With this device you can also control your home security.
