Apple could be making a change in its traditional product release date cycle. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman Apple is making changes in the usual product launch dates. This change can be a new strategy of Apple to manage its product more effectively.
Gurman in his Power On newsletter highlighted this new strategy by Apple. This move is expected to allow Apple to be more flexible regarding product launches. In addition to this, it will help the tech giant to expand its product line.
Apple goes beyond schedules
Till now the Cupertino-based company usually scheduled their launches during June, September and October. However, Gurman finds that now it will break this cycle. The reason? A strategy to increase the number of products. Or it is suggested that this can allow Apple to manage its complex software ecosystem effectively. As Apple has grown quite a lot, when it comes to the range of products they have.
Apple has a huge team which works under multiple product lines. There has been constant pressure in this team to release the products during the fixed time period. This pressure has often resulted in delay of the launch. On top of that some of the products were found to have bugs or some sort of software glitches. Bringing flexibility in launch dates can help Apple to focus on quality products rather than rushing on quantity.
Also, Apple deals with a different range of operating systems (OS). From iOS to Apple Vision Pro’s visionOS, it has got all. This makes the company hard to juggle between the two different OS. So, in order to remove such loopholes, the company is moving towards a more flexible approach.
The impact
The fixed schedule of product launches has often resulted in mishaps. For example, this time Apple had promised huge developments around Apple intelligence. It even promised to bring Apple intelligence, its in-house AI, in its latest iPhone 16 series. However, the iPhone 16 series didn’t get any bit of Apple intelligence after its launch. The iPhone series was launched last month without any Apple intelligence.
The change in the fixed schedules could lead to a better workplace environment. Also, this could help Apple to launch more products without any loopholes. However, the traditional annual update and September announcement could still be there. The upcoming strategy could bring you with more frequent updates and product launches by the tech giant.
