Apple has announced fresh updates to Logic Pro for Mac and iPad, introducing features that promise to streamline the music production workflow and add a new layer of creativity. The updates which include everything from improved plugin search functions to new analog-inspired sounds, make creating and refining audio projects a bit easier than before.
Logic Pro 11.1 for Mac, Logic Pro 2.1 for iPad: Top features
One of the standout features in Logic Pro 11.1 for Mac and Logic Pro 2.1 for iPad is the ability to reorganise channel strips and plugins within the mixer and plugin windows. The added flexibility should allow users to customise their audio mix layout, making managing complex projects more efficient and productive.
For Mac users specifically, Apple has introduced a unique sharing option that lets users export songs directly to the Voice Memos app.
Sound designers will appreciate the new sonic additions. Apple has expanded Logic’s sound library with “Modular Melodies,” a collection of analog synthesiser samples in line with the existing Modular Rhythms pack giving users more creative options for producing authentic, analog-inspired tones.
The Quantec Room Simulator (QRS) for instance delivers a vintage reverb effect commonly found in professional studios worldwide. FYI: It is modelled after the renowned digital reverb hardware of the same name. Apple’s acquisition of the technology behind the original QRS and YardStick models has made this integration possible.
iPad users can now import third-party sample folders directly into the Logic browser, making it easier to access external audio files and integrating them into sampler plugins and tracks.
Logic Pro 11.1 for Mac and Logic Pro 2.1 for iPad are available for download at the time of writing.
