With the rising cybersecurity issues, people are concerned about their safety on online platforms. Today most of our world revolves around digital platforms, where we are open to every form of threat. From phishing mails , hacking accounts, identity fraud and financial scams among others.

Most of these scams happen due to the availability of our personal data on digital platforms such as Amazon, Facebook, online government websites and much more. So, in order to protect them you need to use strong passwords. Here are some tips on how you can protect your personal data by creating strong passwords.

So, how do you protect your precious data all circulating in your digital world? First and foremost you need to create an inevitable password. Breaking a password is the key to stealing your data . Making a strong password can be stressful sometimes. So, here are some tips and tricks that can help you to create strong passwords easily:

Go for ‘mix and match’: It is advisable to create a password that has a mix of numbers and uppercase,lowercase letters. Also you can add signs such as #, @ and much more. 

Long passwords can be your protector: Go for lengthy passwords. It might not be easy to remember but it can help to protect your data. Long passwords are usually hard to crack or guess about. Try to keep at least 12 to 15 letters. Also combining both letters and numbers can add an extra layer of security to this!

Be unique: Try keeping names that are hard to predict. Basically avoid common names such as your name, place name, birth month and much more. These names can be prone to dictionary attacks. Use names that are not usually associated with daily stuff. You can also create words on your own, like combining two words together. 

Don’t repeat: Usually we land up in repeating passwords, which can be prone to more cyberattacks. You should create different passwords for different accounts. Avoid repeating the same ones, even if they are easy to remember. 

Double the security: For an extra layer of security, go for two-factor authentication. First create a strong password and then another password to protect the other one. Basically, Two-factor authentication allows you to use two authentication factors for gaining access to a system or service.

Other than passwords, you need to limit sharing of your personal information. For example, don’t share personal information on unethical websites/platforms or for that matter in apps. Secondly don’t share much on social media, try keeping some form of boundaries. Oversharing minor details might land you up in some kind of identity fraud. Do not click on any unknown links, even if they are offering you attractive benefits.
