Valentine’s Day 2024: The world is indulged in celebrating Valentine’s Day, the day of love. People go out and about for their loved ones on this day, February 14. While everyone else is out on dates, celebrating love. Among them, NASA joined in the festivities, showcasing its unique perspective by sharing a captivating image. The space agency unveiled a mesmerizing snapshot of a ‘cosmic bloom,’ strikingly reminiscent of a delicate rose.
NASA shared an image on the social media platform Instagram and wrote: “Here’s a gift for your Valentine in the form of this cosmic ‘bloom.’ Located about 120 million light-years away, NGC 3256 is the result of a galactic meet-cute — when two massive spiral galaxies collided and merged about 500 million years ago”.
In their description of the image, NASA conveyed, “A prominent face-on spiral galaxy set against the backdrop of the cosmos. Its radiant core shines brilliantly, while swirling bands of dust emit an orange-pink hue, dominating the central region and extending across much of the galaxy. Encircling this luminous gas is a shadowy halo formed by the galaxy’s stars, stretching outward into elongated tidal tails at both the upper left and bottom right corners. Surrounding the main spiral galaxy are numerous faint stars and distant galaxies, adding to the cosmic tapestry.”
