Rohit Bal’s death: Renowned fashion designer Rohit Bal, widely known as ‘Gudda,’ passed away on Friday at the age of 63 following a heart attack, leaving the Indian fashion industry and Bollywood fraternity in deep mourning. Bal was being treated at Aashlok Hospital in Delhi after being taken to the ICU for cardiac complications.
Doctors made every effort to revive him for two hours but were unsuccessful, confirmed Sunil Sethi, President of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI).

Bal, a pioneering figure in Indian fashion, was celebrated for his intricate craftsmanship and his signature fusion of traditional Indian patterns with modern aesthetics. His last showcase was at the Lakme Fashion Week X FDCI 2024 finale, a testament to his lasting influence and unparalleled artistry.
Tributes poured in from Bollywood and the fashion community. Sonam Kapoor shared a heartfelt message, reminiscing about her personal connection with the designer.

“Dear gudda l hear about your passing on my way to celebrate diwali in your gorgeous creation that you generosally lent to me for the second time l’ve been blessed to have known you and worn you and walked for you multiple times. I hope you’re at peace. Always your biggest fan.” She also posted a few pictures with Rohit Bal.
Actor Ananya Panday, who had recently become Bal’s final muse at his comeback show for Lakme Fashion Week 2024, also expressed her condolences. She shared a touching photo from the show, captioned simply, “Gudda ❤️🕊️ Om shanti.” Designer Manish Malhotra described Bal’s passing as “sad and shocking.”
Actor Pulkit Samrat, taking to his Instagram Story, wrote, “The OG will be missed.”
The Fashion Design Council of India shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, stating, “We mourn the passing of Legendary designer Rohit Bal. He was a founding member of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). Known for his unique blend of traditional patterns with modern sensibilities, Bal’s work redefined Indian fashion, and inspired generations.”
“His legacy of artistry, and innovation along with forward thinking will live on in the fashion world. Rest in peace GUDDA,” the post further read.
