Diljit Dosanjh on Punjab floods: Punjab is witnessing massive floods, caused by the overflowing Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers and seasonal rivulets due to heavy rain in their catchment areas in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Further, heavy rains have intensified the flooding situation, making life even harder for residents. The worst-affected villages are in Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Kapurthala, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Hoshiarpur, and Amritsar districts. Amid this crisis, singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has stepped forward to support the affected communities. Sharing a heartfelt video on Instagram, he expressed his support and concern for the people of the state.

Diljit Dosanjh’s message for Punjab flood victims

In an Instagram reel, Diljit said, “The situation in Punjab is very bad due to floods. People have lost their homes. Crops have been destroyed. Animals, cows, and buffalo have died. People’s lives have been ruined. Punjab is wounded, but not defeated.”

He added, “We have risen from the lap of Punjab. Punjab has adopted us. And we have to stand with Punjab through this crisis.” Diljit further said that aid should go beyond immediate relief. “Giving food and water alone will not be enough. Until their lives are restored, we are with them,” he said while explaining the dedication of local NGOs, media teams, and youth volunteers helping on the ground.

Diljit concluded his message with a heartfelt prayer for strength and recovery. “I pray that we all, as brothers and sisters, come together to face this problem and rebuild our lives,” he said. He also expressed gratitude to everyone helping in relief efforts and asked for forgiveness if any of his words unintentionally offended anyone.

To provide help, Diljit has adopted ten of the worst-hit villages in Gurdaspur and Amritsar. His team shared on Instagram that they are focusing on essentials like food, clean water, and medical aid. Plans are also underway for long-term rehabilitation and reconstruction to help families rebuild homes and livelihoods. “Together, we can rebuild,” the post read, explaining the importance of community action.
