In today’s dynamic world, young leaders like Nirvaan Didwania are at the forefront of transformative change. At 18, Nirvaan launched SolarGlide Systems, a company driven by his vision for affordable, reliable renewable energy in underserved Indian communities. His efforts represent a growing trend of youth-led initiatives addressing critical issues in healthcare, education, energy, and sustainability, particularly in rural India.
SolarGlide Systems began in early 2024 as a personal project but quickly evolved into a significant social venture. Nirvaan’s innovation provides solar energy to areas suffering from frequent power outages. “Energy access should be a right,” he asserts, underscoring his dedication to bridging technology and rural needs.
His interest in solar energy was sparked by an internship at Avaada Energy, where he first observed “the stark energy disparity in rural areas.” He later leveraged his experience at Mahindra GTO, analyzing battery data, to design a solar tracking system that avoids costly microcontrollers, making it affordable for economically disadvantaged regions.
Despite initial skepticism due to his age, Nirvaan’s technical prowess earned respect. “Once people saw the impact of our solutions… skepticism turned into support,” he says. SolarGlide’s cost-effective design helps communities build resilience, empowering locals to sustain the systems independently. “Empowering communities means helping them become self-sufficient,” he explains, emphasizing skills development for long-term impact.
Young leaders like Nirvaan are shaping a brighter future, proving that meaningful change is possible when youth lead the way toward sustainable solutions.
