O’Romeo: Release date and more

Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by Vishal Bharadwaj, the Shahid Kapoor headliner marks his comeback after Deva, which was released in January 2025. ‘Will Shahid finally have a hit?’

Reacting to the one-minute thirty-six-second video released, netizens on X could not help but point out the intense action sequences displayed in the film. From gory scenes to abusive language, the film has it all. A user questioned why every action sequence felt like it was a part of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal. However, several Shahid Kapoor fans celebrated his reunion with Vishal Bharadwaj after Haider and Kaminey. They wrote, “Will Shahid – VB – Sajid Nadiadwala finally get a hit?” as Kapoor’s last blockbuster was 2019’s Kabir Singh, which grossed Rs 278 crore during its theatrical run. Others added, “Vishal Bharadwaj-Shahid Kapoor is a reunion worth waiting for. Add Tripti Dimri to the mix, and you’ve got a Valentine’s release that won’t be about roses alone.”

At the same time, some netizens felt disappointed and wrote that all the Bollywood-directed films seemed to be targeting only a specific section of viewers. It is as if they are “trying to pull them into theatres, rather than focusing on quality,” opined a disappointed netizen. Another user felt that the trailer felt like a template and wrote, “After Animal, every movie adds a scene of the hero beating up dozens of guys. It feels forced and will get boring soon. If filmmakers want gore and violence, at least do something new and fresh.”
