In 2015, Salman Khan’s earlier releases had to face negligible competition and the situation repeated itself with Prem Ratan Dhan Payo too as both Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan are on a sabbatical of sorts and the third Khan in the Bollywood triumvirate had to face just Akshay Kumar and Ranbir Kapoor for box office collections glory in 2015. Needless to say, Salman Khan has emerged triumphantly at the top in Bollywood even though Akshay Kumar has fought bravely to mint money for himself and his filmmakers, while Ranbir faded (his Tamasha with deepika Padukone is up next for release though). Salman Khan easily left the others behind with a take of Rs 129.77 cr in the domestic market.

For now Prem Ratan Dhan Payo box office collections have made this Salman Khan movie the highest Opening Weekend grosser of 2015. This has been courtesy a mammoth day 1 take of Rs 40.35 crore and following it up with a credible performance day after day thereafter. The film has turned out to be Salman Khan’s biggest blockbuster making it his second consecutive hit in 2015.
