Actor Kriti Sanon purchased a sea-facing luxury apartment in Mumbai for more than Rs 78.20 crore. The lavish duplex penthouse is spread over 6,636 sq feet in the upscale Pali Hill locality of Bandra. The transaction was registered on Thursday with a Rs 3.91 crore stamp duty charge.

Over Rs 1.18 lakh per square feet

According to an Economic Times report, Sanon purchased the apartment from Supreme Universal with her mother as a joint owner. The agreement with the developer also gives her exclusive access to six parking slots and an open terrace spread over 1209 square feet. The duplex will have a carpet area of 6,636 sq ft — spread across the 14th and 15th floor of the under-construction tower.

The transaction was reportedly registered on Thursday — with Sanon paying more than Rs 84.16 crore for the property. The valuation of around Rs 1.18 lakh per square feet makes it one of the costliest transactions to emerge from the Mumbai suburbs. The actor faced a reduced 1% stamp duty of Rs 3.91 crore as the homebuyers were women. The government of Maharashtra currently allows a significant concession (from 5% to 1%) for female purchasers.

Property in Alibaug and…

Sanon currently lives in a sprawling rented apartment in the Andheri suburb of Mumbai with her sister Nupur and their dogs. According to reports, she has rented the 27th and 28th floors of a high-end complex in the area and utilises it as her main home.

The update comes a little more than a year after Sanon made another property purchase in the MMR — buying a land parcel in Alibaug. The under-construction project is located within the luxurious Sol de Alibaug project by The House of Abhinandan Lodha and spans 2,000 square feet. The deal was finalized in mid-July last year and involved an investment of Rs 2 crore.

“Buying land on my own has been quite an empowering journey and I have had my eyes on Alibaug, for a while,” reports had quoted her as saying after the transaction.
