Dharma Productions’ latest offering, Kalank, has turned out to be a below-par performer at the box-office. The multi-starrer period drama, on Friday, saw little growth as it added Rs 11.60 crore more to its kitty. The Good Friday holiday has certainly not helped its business much. Its total collection, after a three-day run in cinemas, stands at Rs 44.65 crore. Earlier on Wednesday and Thursday, the high-budgeted film collected Rs 21.60 crore and Rs 11.45 crore, respectively.

Movie critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, on Twitter, wrote that Kalank was now “dependent” on Saturday and Sunday to post a healthy total. He also shared the latest box-office figure of the film.

His tweet read that, Kalank sees minimal growth on Day 3 [#GoodFriday holiday]. The big jump is clearly missing, plexes better, mass circuits ordinary/weak. Now dependent on Sat and Sun to add to the total. Wed 21.60 cr, Thu 11.45 cr, Fri 11.60 cr. Total: ₹ 44.65 cr. India biz.

The box-office performance of Kalank, as it appears, has been marred by unflattering reviews and poor word of mouth. Financial Express Online’s Tarun Bhardwaj gave the film 1 star out of 5 and wrote, “Kalank is an epic yawn fest that crumbles under the weight of heavy sets made on the thin plot.”

Kalank is directed by Abhishek Varman, who is best known for helming the Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt-starrer 2 States. The film, set in the pre-independence era, stars Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead roles.
