Half Girlfriend box office collections day 3: Even as Baahubali 2: The Conclusion continues to dazzle – it has crossed the Rs 450 crore mark in Hindi market – newly released Half Girlfriend is trying to make waves of its own. The Mohit Suri directed Half Girlfriend was released last Friday that stars Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles. The Indian romantic drama, which happens to be a film adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel by the same name, had a good start with a business of Rs 10.27 crore on the first day of its release. The film comes after around three years of the release of the novel. The film saw some growth on the second day and collected an amount of Rs 10.63 crore. It further increased on Sunday and the business reached Rs 11.14 crore, settling the total collection of the first weekend at Rs 32.04 crore, reported Bollywood Hungama.

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the movie has made a “strong start” with its release and saw a growth of 3.51 percent on the second day. Sharing its overall business of the first weekend to Rs 32.04 crore, he called it a “good weekend” for the film.

It is not the first time that the novel of renowned author Chetan Bhagat has been adapted into a film. Earlier, his novel ‘2 States’ was turned into a film with the same name, while his novel ‘The 3 mistakes of my life’ was released as film with title ‘Kai Po Che’, novel ‘One Night @ The Call Center’ as film titled ‘Hello’ and novel ‘Five Point Someone’ as Aamir Khan starrer ‘3 Idiots’. All these films ran successfully enough at the box office. However, this is the first time Chetan Bhagat himself entered into production with this film and he has made tremendous efforts for its promotion including appearing on the shows of the silver screen with actors Arjun and Shraddha. The songs of the film based on the story of a rural boy and a rich girl, have already gone viral.
