In a shocking turn of events, KAP’S CAFE, a newly opened restaurant owned by popular Indian comedian Kapil Sharma, was attacked in a shooting incident in Surrey, British Columbia, on Wednesday night.

According to early reports, multiple rounds of gunfire were aimed at the cafe, but no injuries have been reported. Local police immediately arrived at the scene, sealed the area, and launched an investigation. The motive behind the attack is still under investigation, but authorities are treating it as a serious security threat.

In a major twist, Harjit Singh Laddi, a suspected Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operative and one of India’s most wanted terrorists listed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), has reportedly claimed responsibility for the shooting. Laddi allegedly stated that he carried out the attack due to offensive remarks made by Kapil Sharma, although details about these remarks have not been confirmed.

Kapil Sharma, who is well-known for his comedy shows in India and abroad, has not yet commented on the incident.

KAP’s cafe targeted just days after launch

KAP’S Cafe had just opened its doors to the public a few days ago and was already becoming a popular hangout spot for the Indian community in Canada. The cafe had a soft launch over the weekend and received an overwhelming response.

On Instagram, the official page of the cafe posted, “We’re so grateful for the amazing turnout! Thank you for your patience as we try to seat everyone. Our cafe is currently very busy with a big line-up. We appreciate your support during our soft launch.”

The cafe has a charming and Instagram-worthy vibe, featuring pink and white interiors, crystal chandeliers, artificial flowers, and baby pink sofas, a blend of classy and cute.

Apart from its decor, the cafe is known for its speciality coffee and desserts, including lemon pistachio cake, fudgy brownies, and croissants.

Kapil and his wife, Ginni Chatrath had shared several moments from the opening on Instagram, thanking fans and friends for the love and support. Fellow comedian Kiku Sharda also congratulated Kapil, posting “Kya baat hai!”
