Japan’s No 1 movie Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is ready for its big-screen debut in India. Anime fans patiently holding on for D-Day can let out a sigh of relief as we are finally headed into the final countdown, with merely days left before the record-smashing film’s theatrical opening.
In collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment, Crunchyroll, the world’s biggest anime library, is backing the much-loved franchise’s silver screen shows. On Wednesday, the beloved streamer delivered a big happy news for Demon Slayer fans, revealing that advance bookings for the anticipated flick are opening this week.
The upcoming chapter of the fan-favourite Demon Slayer series set to release on September 12 is already on track to record a major milestone as the first anime film in India being released in five language – Japanese (with English subtitles), English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Those thrilled for the big release can now add the advance bookings date to their calendars.

The first addition of the Infinity Castle film trilogy will be releasing in India across more than 750 screens, marking the widest release ever for any anime film. Die-hard fans of the franchise are advised to lock their calendars for this Friday, September 5, which is when the advanced bookings for the new movie will commence.

The feature film bringing alive the final battle of the award-winning anime series – based on Koyoharu Gotoge’s best-selling manga franchise – is also bound to kick off early anime celebrations in Mumbai. Ahead of the title’s scheduled theatrical release, a special advance screening for the first Infinity Castle installment will also be held in Mumbai later this week on Sunday, September 7.
It will be a star-studded event indeed, as keen supporters of the franchise will be joined by superfans, aka Indian movie stars, Rashmika Mandanna and Tiger Shroff for the once-in-a-lifetime spectacle.
The forthcoming Indian release of the new Demon Slayer movie has already cleared the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) review. After being saved from any visual cuts, the film has been granted a U/A 13+ rating.
Demon Slayer Infinity Castle box office numbers
Having released in Japan on July 18, Infinity Castle raked in 1.095 billion yen ($7.44 million) this past weekend (August 29-31), retaining its top spot at the Japanese box office for seven weeks in a row, according to Kogyo Tsushinsha. Its cumulative 45-day-run has grossed 29,983,483,800 yen ($204 million). The film is expected to cross $300 million at the global box office ahead of the September 12 release in North America, India and Canada, as per reports.
Last week, the first film in the final Demon Slayer trilogy soared above Titanic to become the #3 highest-earning film of all-time in Japan. Meanwhile, Demon Slayer The Movie: Mugen Train is still leading the table ‘Top 100 Box Office Grossing Movies of All Time’ in Japan.
