Laxman Utekar’s period drama Chhaava, featuring Vicky Kaushal in the lead, continues its impressive run at the box office. With minimal competition in theatres, the Hindi version of the film is enjoying a strong hold, while the Telugu version is also making inroads in the southern market. In fact, the film’s Saturday earnings were nearly double compared to Friday’s collection.

On Friday, the film garnered Rs 6.25 crore in Hindi, while its Telugu version opened with Rs 2.5 crore, pushing the day’s total to Rs 8.75 crore — a notable boost for Day 22. The momentum continued into Saturday, with the Hindi version collecting Rs 13.5 crore and the Telugu version contributing Rs 3 crore. Together, Chhaava brought in Rs 16.5 crore on Day 23.

With this, the film has now crossed the Rs 500 crore milestone at the domestic box office. According to trade tracker Sacnilk, Chhaava has earned a total of Rs 508.8 crore so far — Rs 503.3 crore from its Hindi version and Rs 5.5 crore from its Telugu version.

By entering the coveted Rs 500 crore club, Chhaava now stands alongside major blockbusters like Pushpa 2: The Rule, Jawan, Stree 2, Gadar 2, Pathaan, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, and Animal. Interestingly, Chhaava’s Hindi collection has already surpassed that of Animal, which had earned Rs 502.98 crore in Hindi. However, Animal’s total domestic collection across all languages still remains higher at Rs 553.87 crore, largely due to its strong performance in Telugu (Rs 45.14 crore), and modest earnings in Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.

With no big Hindi film releases on the immediate horizon, Chhaava is expected to maintain its dominance at the box office in the coming weeks. But the real test will arrive later this month, as Salman Khan’s Eid release Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss, hits theatres on March 28. Interestingly, Rashmika Mandanna — who stars opposite Vicky in Chhaava — also plays the female lead in Sikandar.

For now, though, Chhaava continues to roar at the box office, solidifying its place among Bollywood’s biggest commercial successes.
