Akira collection: Sonakshi Sinha starrer has received a mixed reaction from the people, mostly tending to the negative. While some are applauding the actress for her action scenes, some are criticizing the movie for the subtle patriarchial baggage that it carries and the overall women-in-rage angle.
The movie saw a slow start but the box office collection virtually fell on Tuesday with a collection of Rs.2.40 crore only. The nett box office collection now stands at Rs 22.4 crore by day 5.
The movie had more than one element that could make it shine at the box office. From pregnant female cop Konkana Sen and Sonakshi Sinha’s sisterhood to Anurag Kashyap’s villainous role adding to the gripping plot. The movie had several wow factors that should have kept the audience hooked throughout, but the crowds did not respond.
Although the movie couldn’t do well, Sonakshi Sinha has put in big efforts in it. Not only did the actress showcase her amazing fighting skills in the movie, she also did a song, ‘Raj Raj key’ for it. Talking to IANS about the song, Sonakshi Sinha says, “We were shooting the music video and every time I went to give a shot I would end up singing it in all my zest… Its just one of those songs! So the Fox guys suggested that I should record it”.
