The Rajkumar Hirani directed PK that released in December last year set a new record in terms of box office collections. Now, we hear that the Aamir Khan-Anushka Sharma starrer PK has managed to find its way into the list of Top 250 films on one of the most visited film database sites IMDB.
Interestingly, this is be Aamir Khan’s sixth film to enter the list of 250 after Lagaan (2001), Dil Chahta Hai (2001), Rang De Bassanti (2006), Taare Zameen Par (20o7) and 3 Idiots (2009). At present, PK is at number 246 on the IMDB list.
The only other non-Aamir Khan Bollywood movie to feature in this list is Gangs of Wasseypur (2012).
As for the list, it is developed using the true Bayesian estimate formula that minimizes the posterior expected value of a loss function (i.e., the posterior expected loss), while simultaneously maximizing the posterior expectation of a utility function.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994), The Godfather (1972) and The Godfather: Part II (1974) remain at the top of the chart.
True Bayesian estimate formula:
Weighted Rating (WR) = (v ÷ (v+m)) × R + (m ÷ (v+m)) × C
Where:
R = average for the movie (mean) = (Rating)
v = number of votes for the movie = (votes)
m = minimum votes required to be listed in the Top 250 (currently 25000)
C = the mean vote across the whole report (currently 7.0)
