Moved to a different city or shifted to a new home? Don’t forget to update your latest address on your Aadhaar. If you possess valid proof of address or have received an Address Validation Letter (for individuals lacking conventional documents), you’re eligible to make the change. Soon, updating key details on your Aadhaar card—such as your name, address, date of birth, and mobile number—will become easier with a new online process.
Beginning November 2025, key Aadhaar details—such as mobile number, address, name, and date of birth—can be revised online. This move aims to improve convenience, reduce paperwork, and support faster authentication through existing government databases like PAN, passport, and ration card.
This means you won’t need to visit an enrollment center for most updates, making the process easier and more user-friendly than ever before.
UIDAI plans to simplify the Aadhaar update
The UIDAI plans to simplify the Aadhaar update process by automatically cross-verifying user information using existing government records like PAN, passport, and ration card. This eliminates the repeated need for document uploads.
Additionally, utility bills—such as electricity bills—will now be accepted as valid address proof, making the update procedure more efficient.
A revamped mobile app is also expected to launch soon, offering a digital Aadhaar with QR code functionality. With this upgrade, physical photocopies will no longer be necessary, as users will be able to share a secure digital or masked version of their Aadhaar when required. The goal is to enhance security and reduce the risk of fake Aadhaar circulation.
UIDAI is offering this service free of cost
If you’re looking to modify just your address, UIDAI is offering this service free of cost through the myAadhaar portal until June 14, 2026. To complete the process, ensure your Aadhaar is connected to your mobile number, as verification requires OTP (One-Time Password) authentication.
If your mobile number isn’t linked yet, it’s strongly recommended to get it updated promptly to access the full range of upcoming Aadhaar-based digital services.
