The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Tuesday announced a rescheduling of the Civil Services Examinations (CSE) 2024. Originally slated for May 26, 2024, the Preliminary examination will now take place on June 16.

The UPSC Civil Services mains examinations are scheduled to take place over a period of five days, starting from September 20.

Why UPSC postponed the Civil Services Exam 2024

The decision to reschedule the exam schedule came after the Election Commission of India announced the dates for the 18th Lok Sabha elections, which wiltobe conducted from April to June 2024.

Previously, the Commission had extended the registration deadline for the Civil Services Examinations (CSE) 2024. According to the official announcement, the registration deadline was extended until March 6 at 6 pm. The correction window remained open from March 7 to March 13.

Tthe commission has announced a total of 1,056 vacancies for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) and 150 for the Indian Forest Service (IFoS). The UPSC CSE exam comprises three stages: prelims, mains, and the personality test.
