Pan IIT Alumni India, a not-for-profit organisation representing alumni of all Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), is hosting the ‘PanIIT World of Technology Summit’ (PIWOT) from January 17-19, 2025, at the Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai. This global event focuses on leveraging innovation to create a positive societal impact, uniting technology leaders and innovators from around the world, according to an official press release.

Building on the themes of previous summits, PIWOT 2025 will explore “Technology at Work,” emphasising how technological advancements are shaping society, industry, governance and global services. 

The summit is expected to attract over 3,000 participants and will feature multiple tracks and interactive sessions designed to engage stakeholders across the technology spectrum. Conference sessions will kick off the event, featuring keynotes and panel discussions with tech stalwarts and thought leaders addressing topics like defense, climate change, agri-tech, and sustainable development. Fireside sessions will provide intimate and engaging conversations with industry leaders, IIT directors, incubators, and alumni associations.

A key highlight of the event is IMAGINE, India’s first design and coding hackathon, which focuses on developing affordable technological solutions for societal challenges. With themes such as generative AI, productivity, e-commerce, agritech, and blockchain, this hackathon aims to foster innovation at the grassroots level. Another major attraction is the Startup Conclave, which will host a Mega Investor Startup Meet. 

This conclave offers live pitches, masterclasses, and networking opportunities with super angels and top venture capitalists, providing transformative funding and mentorship for startups. Past editions have attracted over 100 investors and facilitated significant funding opportunities.

The summit will also feature an exhibition showcasing cutting-edge technological innovations from startups and corporates across diverse sectors like healthcare, robotics, and social impact. PIWOT 2025 promises to be a vibrant platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange, driving technological advancements toward meaningful societal contributions.

Keynote addresses from members of the Honourable Prime Minister’s Cabinet will illuminate industry needs, while academia focuses on preparing the next generation for the future envisioned by government and industry,” Debashish Bhattacharyya, Chairman, PanIIT, said.

PIWOT 2025 will feature keynote addresses from prominent figures in technology, policy and industry, including Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education, Jitendra Singh, Minister of Science & Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, Gururaj Desh Deshpande; R.A. Mashelkar, Sunil Wadhwani and Mr. Partha Ghosh and a special address by Shri Devendra Fadnavis Chief Minister, Maharashtra State .

There is a strong lineup of international speakers as well, including Prof. Sharon Pickering (Vice-Chancellor and President of Monash University) and Alexi Ekimov Nobel Laureate 2023 (Chemistry). Japanese industry stalwarts like Naotaka Nishiyama (Founder CEO Talendy), Kinji Saito (GMO Suzuki) and Hiroshi Iwatsubo (CTO, Murata Manufacturing) will share insights on the latest technological advancements and their real-world applications.
