The state education board of Chhattisgarh, Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE), today announced to conduct board examinations twice a year for classes 10 and 12. The board has yet to decide whether the rule will be followed in the 2024 session or the following sessions.
The decision was made after detailed meetings with the state government to ease the stress around board exams for students. As per the official schedule, the first board exam will be held in March and the second board exam will be conducted after three months in June-July.
Only students who have registered for the first examination will be eligible to apply for the second examination, with a caveat that no changes in subjects will be entertained. The second examination application is open to students who have failed in all subjects, obtained supplementary results, or were absent during the initial examination.
Additionally, students aiming to enhance their grades across all subjects are also eligible to participate in the second examination. Those who have successfully passed all subjects in the first examination can opt to fill out a form for the improvement of marks in one or more subjects during the second examination.
It is essential to note that the structure of the opportunity test remains unchanged. This development follows the recent announcement by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, revealing a forthcoming initiative that will allow students to take Class 10 and Class 12 board exams twice a year starting from the academic session of 2025-26.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan made this revelation during the launch of the PM SHRI (Prime Minister Schools for Rising India) scheme in Chhattisgarh. Under this initiative, 211 schools in the state are slated for upgrading, marking a significant step towards educational advancement in the region.
