Police today registered a separate FIR of forgery against Uber cabs driver Shiv Kumar Yadav, accused of raping a 27-year-old financial executive on Friday night.

The case was registered against Yadav at north Delhi’s Burari police station here this morning for submitting forged documents with the Burari Transport Authority to get an All India Tourist Permit.

He had submitted a forged ‘Character Certificate’ issued in the name of an Additional DCP of the Delhi Police to get this permit.

“The case was registered under sections 466, 468 and 471 IPC at Burari Police Station. Further investigations are on,” said a police official.

The alleged certificate, which was doing the rounds on internet and widely quoted on TV reports gave a clean chit to the accused Shiv Kumar Yadav, who was also accused in a similar rape case in 2011 and had even spent seven months in Tihar jail. He was later acquitted in the case.

The certificate was issued with the signature of an Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) in August this year, saying Yadav was not involved in any criminal case as per the records of Ambedkar Nagar Police Station.

Police investigation found the certificate fake following which the case was registered.
