The idea of 3D printed buildings is now growing in India with the construction of the very first 3D Temple in Telangana built by Hyderabad Apsuja Infratech in collaboration with 3D printing solution company Simpliforge Creations. The massive collaboration has resulted in a 4,000 square feet extended temple.

The temple is divided into three sections devoting three gods of Hindu culture, a Modak dedicated to Lord Ganesha, a square Shivalay for Lord Shankar, and a lotus-shaped sanctum for Goddess Parvati. The whole project was completed within 3 months with the use of in-house developed technology, indigenous materials, and software.

The other parts like pillars, flooring and slabs of the temple were made in a conventional style using concrete cement and other materials. The chief operating officer Amit Ghule has highlighted that the temple has become the global example of 3D construction. He said, “This construction takes care of the structural requirements, principles of temple design, 3D printing requirements while dealing with the challenges of in-site construction.”

3D printing technology has the ability to alter the construction sector by providing low-cost, efficient, and ecologically friendly solutions. However, concerns such as job consequences and structural stability must be addressed through additional research.

Earlier this year, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw dedicated the country’s first 3D-printed post office building in Bengaluru. It was in the city of Cambridge Layout. The post office, which has a built-up space of 1,021 square feet, was commended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an X post.
